Drive Belt Replacement

The Drive Belt, also known as the serpentine belt, fan belt or alternator belt, is one of the key parts of the engine that transfers power to the alternator, the air con, as well as the power steering components.

What happens if it is faulty?

If your Drive Belt isn't working then your engine won't be working properly. Over time the belt may become stiffened due to the heat of the engine and this wear and tear can lead to the belt snapping. If this happens this can lead to internal engine damage which is not only dangerous, but also very costly to repair.

How can I tell if its wearing down?

A few key ways:

  • If there is a squeaking coming from the engine bay.
  • If your steering is heavier than usual, this could be an indication that the power steering has failed, and as such, could be down to the drive belt.

Your car will come with a recommendation from the manufacturer as to when your Drive belt will need replacing, if it is near that time, then don't hesitate to call us, we'd be happy to help.
